Song writing

Let me tell you a little story about me. When I first got into college I wanted to major in something I knew I had a passion for and that I was good at, so I chose music. Now being of Asian and Mexican descent, this was not the most stable decision, so naturally I backed it up with a more stable option: Music Education. This was the path I was going to take, and I did, sort of. I pursued music for about four years at my local community college and I got an associate’s degree in it. It was so much fun singing in choir and taking voice lessons and even taking music theory classes. But through all of that I started to lose my passion for it. I didn’t want to practice, music theory became more and more difficult and strenuous, and I felt like I was never going to get to be a music teacher.

To tell you the truth, this story doesn’t end with a typical happy ending. I didn’t end up pursuing music for my bachelor’s and that’s okay. But what I did find in my time at community college was a love for song writing and I was able to learn so much about the instruments that I could play. I learned skills that I can now apply to my jam sessions and my creative outlet that I am so grateful for.

And so I say all this to introduce this part of my blog, the songs I’ve written. In this music portion of my blog I’m going to show you some songs I’ve wrote and I want to just keep adding as I write about life, my faith, and really just anything in general.
